Bormes-les-Mimosas

Discover the medieval village Bormes-les-Mimosas.

Five minutes by car from our Hotel L'Escapade, between sea and forest, is the medieval village of Bormes-les-Mimosas.

It is one of the most beautiful villages in France and a real jewel of Provence. Thanks to its architecture, the village is often compared to a "Provençal nativity scene" which consists of picturesque old houses, flowery alleys with fountains, ruins of ramparts and the castle.

It offers a panoramic view of the plains and the Golden Islands. Authentic, preserved from Antiquity, the houses are suspended in the cobbled streets... The monuments built between the 12th and 18th centuries bear witness to the history of the medieval city. Wonderful temples as well as the castle constitute the historical and architectural heritage of Bormes-les-Mimosas.

In 1968, the village name "Bormes" was added to the suffix "Les Mimosas" due to the abundant presence in the village of this tree belonging to the Acacia family. Every year, between January and March, the mimosa covers the village with its yellow coat.

Every year, the last weekend of February, the village organizes the flower festival "Corso fleur de Bormes". On this day, a parade of fragrant flowers is held in the streets of the medieval town.

Until 1913, Le Lavandou was attached to Bormes-les-Mimosas and was the fishing district of the village.

We also advise you to visit the fort of Brégançon and the beaches of Cabasson located a dozen kilometers away.
